Ghana had a total of fifteen (15) nominations with five films for the upcoming 2016 Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAAs) which is scheduled to take place in Port Harcourt, Nigeria in June.
Nominations were announced on Sunday May 15 by President of 2016 AMAA Jury, Mr. Husseini Shaibu during a ceremony at the Protea Hotel in Ikeja, Lagos.
Unlike previous years, Ghana recorded a lot of new faces on the nomination list; some of whom included new actor, Joseph Otsiman who got the nod for Best Actor In Supporting Role for his performance in the drama thriller film, The Cursed Ones directed by Nana Obiri Yeboah. Nana was also nominated for AMAA 2016 Award For Best Director category.
New and young actress, Ophelia Klenam Dzidzornu is also competing in AMAA 2016 Award for Best Young/Promising Actor category for her role in The Cursed Ones while English actor, Oris Erhuero is also representing Ghana in the Best Actor In Leading Role category for his performance in the same Ghanaian movie The Cursed Ones.
