Winston Ruddle also known as “Papa Africa” is the founder, producer, and director of Circus Mama Africa. Ruddle is a Zimbabwean born Tanzania resident noted as “the first black African to own, direct and produce a circus show in a big top circus tent”.
Originally founded in Tanzania, Circus Mama had started as an underground acrobatic school in Kinondoni, Dar es Salaam in 2003. Since, Circus Mama Africa has “trained more than 150 acrobats and dancers” and, has “grown to be home to many of Africa’s most notable Acrobatic circus acts including the world renowned The Amazing Hakuna Matata Acrobats”.
Laced with an African essence, the awe-inspiring artfulness and vigor of Circus Mama Africa has been described as “an experiential feast for the senses; an opportunity to be touched by – and to taste – the many varied and rich cultures that Africa has to offer”. The producer guarantees, without a doubt, that this unforgettable experience will transport spectators deep into the mystery of Africa.
