Establishing the precedent, Ethiopian Airlines dispatched its first-ever all-female operated flight from Addis Ababa to Bangkok. A historical journey, the operation included all-female cabin crew, pilots, in flight ramp operations and flight dispatchers.
At a press conference held in Addis Ababa, representatives from Ethiopian Airlines declared that the move hopes to inspire young African women to pursue aviation careers.
The significance of this event is an extension of Ethiopia’s history dating back over 70 years: a nod to Africa’s first woman pilot, Muluemebet Emiru.
