Revamped Lycee de Kigali Gymnasium was officially inaugurated on Friday, February 10.
The 1500-seat facility was constructed through a partnership between NBA Africa and Rwanda’s basketball governing body (FERWABA), and has been under construction since October 2022.
Expected to benefit more than 4,000 youth from Kigali and the surrounding communities,the gymnasium will be hosting some games of the local league.
Minister of Sports Aurore Mimosa Munyagaju, NBA Africa CEO, Victor Williams, FERWABA President Desire Mugwiza and Gaspard Twagirayezu, the Minister of State in charge of Primary and Secondary Education were among dignitaries who graced the official unveiling of the facility which is expected to help in talent detection among youths.
Speaking at the launch, Minister Munyangaju commended the commitment from partners like NBA Africa, which are playing a role in taking Rwandan basketball to a new level.
