The Mauritian government declared its decision to re-establish diplomatic relations with the Saharawi Arab democratic Republic (SADR) as a sovereign State, on Monday, stressing Saharawi people’s inalienable right to self-determination.
“The cabinet has agreed to Mauritius recognizing anew the Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR) as a sovereign State, in line with the aim of the Government to forge new relationships across the world as enunciated in the Government Programme 2015-2019,” Mauritius Government said in a statement.
“The recognition of the SADR as a sovereign and independent State is a reaffirmation of the support of Mauritius for Western Sahara people’s inalienable right to self-determination.”
The Republic of Mauritius first recognized the Saharawi Republic in 1982. SADR is recognized by 84 States.
