Nobel Peace Prize 2015 Goes to National Dialogue Quartet

The Nobel Peace Prize 2015 was awarded to Tunisia’s National Dialogue Quartet, the Nobel Committee announced Friday.

The Nobel Peace Prize 2015 goes to the National Dialogue Quartet in recognition of “its decisive contribution to the building of a pluralistic democracy in Tunisia, in the wake of the Jasmine Revolution of 2011,” the Nobel Committee said in a statement posted on its official website.

The Quartet was formed in the summer of 2013. It is made up of the Tunisian General Labour Union (UGTT), the Tunisian Confederation of Trade, Industry and Handicrafts (UTICA), the Bar Association and the Tunisian League of Human Rights (LTDH).

There were 273 nominations for the Nobel Peace Prize 2015, including 68 organizations.
