The African Union’s (AU) early warning system will be working overtime in the next few weeks as Africa heads into a series of high-risk elections.
Elections in Burkina Faso have been postponed following a coup d’état in mid-September, and violence in the Central African Republic (CAR) might see the polls in that country, planned for 18 October, also being postponed.
Elections are meanwhile going ahead in Guinea on 11 October and in Côte d’Ivoire and Tanzania on 25 October. Presidential elections are also being held in Benin and Niger in February 2016.
