The first annual Mohamed Amin Africa Media Awards (MAAMA’s) held its Gala Dinner/Awards Presentation Ceremony Thursday, May 21st to a rocking audience of television professionals and media connoisseurs at the Carnivore Grounds in Nairobi. AFRICA24 MEDIA was well represented by Salim Amin and his young African colleagues who handed out awards for Best Newscast, Sports Content and Use of Social Media.
Winners in the ten inaugural event categories hailed from Kenya, Nigeria, Sudan and Qatar. People’s Choice winner Dorcas Wangira became an instant local hero, while TVC News in Nigeria grabbed prizes for both Best Newscast and Best Sports Content. Most Innovative Program went to another Nigerian, animator Jibril Mailafia, for his dynamic work, THE THRONE.
