Violence erupts in Kibera slum in Nairobi, Kenya, following the nationwide demonstration and protest organised by the Coalition for Reforms and Democracy party, demanding for the immediate disbandment of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC). Kenya’s official electoral body is accusing it of corruption and bias in the upcoming general presidential election that is due to be held in August 2017.
During the protest, Kenyan police lobbed tear gas and water cannon to disperse chaotic and violent protesters. Several people were reported seriously injured during the demonstrations.
